From Soldier to Sports Agent: The Story Behind Not Just Another Shark in a Suit
Every career starts somewhere.
Mine didn’t begin in a boardroom or at a draft table. It started in the trenches - literally - catalyzed by a growing curiosity about the business behind the game. From there, the path wasn’t linear.
After high school, I joined the Canadian Armed Forces, where I learned discipline, accountability, and how to operate under pressure. Those lessons stayed with me as I transitioned into law school - where I developed the tools to understand contracts, negotiations, and the systems that shape professional sports. That path eventually led me to serve as a Legal Officer. It was high-stakes work. Details mattered. Preparation mattered. Execution mattered.
And through all of it, one thing never really left: sports.
At a certain point, you stop ignoring the thing that keeps pulling at you. For me, that was hockey - and more specifically, the business behind it. The decisions that define careers. The moments that happen long before the spotlight. I realized that everything I had built - military discipline, legal training, sports expertise - was pointing in the same direction.
So I took the leap - into player representation.
All in.
Not Just Another Shark in a Suit was built on a simple idea: Athletes deserve more than transactional representation. They deserve preparation, strategy, and honesty. Someone who cares about more than the commission and who understands that behind every deal is a career with a limited window to get it right.
To mark the start of this journey, I’ve released the first video on the agency’s YouTube channel.
It’s not a highlight reel. It’s the story - my story - from the military, to law, to becoming a sports agent.
